At St. Peter’s Catholic Church, we are blessed with dedicated spiritual leaders who guide our parish community with faith, compassion, and service. Our pastor, Father Andres Ayala-Santiago, along with our deacons—Dcn. Lloyd Hawes, Dcn. Mike Anderson, and Dcn. Josh Boden—serve the people of God through preaching, sacraments, pastoral care, and outreach. Together, they help us grow as a faith-filled community rooted in the love of Christ.
Father Andres was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, on November 5, 1978, the son of Mr. Fernando Ayala-Nuño and Mrs. Maria del Refugio Santiago Robles. He is the second of four children and he grew up in the city of Ahualulco de Mercado, Jalisco, where he completed elementary, middle, and high school studies.
He entered the Seminary of Guadalajara on August 28, 1996, where he completed the following years of academic training; Nivelación, Tapalpa (Spirituality), three years of Philosophy, and three of Theology. He continued his studies at the Hispanic Seminary of Santa María de Guadalupe in Mexico City, already forming part of the diocese of Pueblo Colorado. On March 6, 2009 he was ordained a deacon, by the laying of hands and consecratory prayer of Bishop Arthur Tafoya, at the Insigne National Basilica of Guadalupe. He was ordained a priest by the laying of hands and consecratory prayer of Bishop Fernando Isern, on December 9, 2010, at the Cathedral of Sacred Heart in Pueblo, Colorado.
From 2010 - 2012 he served as parochial vicar at Sacred Heart Parish in Alamosa, Colorado. From 2012-2014 he served in the San Juan Community (San Jose, Monte Vista, CO. Del Norte, CO. South Fork, CO. Creede, CO. Center, CO. Saguache, CO) as parochial vicar. He became the first Hispanic Parish Administrator to the parishes of St. Peter in Gunnison, Queen of All Saints in Crested Butte, and St. Rose of Lima in Lake City; on October 28, 2014. He received his first decree as pastor on September 29, 2017, being installed on December 17 of the same year. His decree has been renewed for another 6 years on October 1, 2023. On February 5, 2024, he received his master’s degree in philosophy.
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
Maker of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
